Hensel and Gretel Story in English
“Hansel and Gretel” story –
Once upon a time, there were two siblings. The boy’s name was Hansel, and the girl was called Gretel.
Their mother died a long time ago so they lived with their father. Even though they were poor, they lived very happily. One day, the father got married again. His new wife was a very evil woman. She told Hansel and Gretel’s father that they should leave the children in the forest forever because they cannot afford to feed them. The father felt sad and refused first, but he eventually agreed too.
So, the next day, their parents took Hansel and Gretel to the forest. However, Hansel knew about the plan because he had heard them. As he was a very clever boy, he had already collected white pebbles that he threw along the way.
The evil stepmom after walking for a distance left the children inside the forest and returned home with the father. But Hansel and Gretel found their way back home following the trail of the white pebbles.
Story of Hansel and Gretel continues
The next day, the evil stepmom took the children again into the forest and this time she did not let Hansel collect white pebbles. Since they had no time, Hansel and Gretel could not find their way back and were truly lost. Hansel and Gretel started walking, after some time they started feeling hungry and tired. Suddenly, they saw a beautiful Gingerbread house. Excited and happy they started eating it.
Then, an old lady with grey hair came to them saying that she would take care of them. Hansel and Gretel were really happy, but they did not know that she was a witch. She put Hansel into a cage and started making him fat so that she could enjoy eating him. She made Gretel do all the household chores.
Suddenly, one day the witch decided to eat Hansel. She told Gretel to make the fire hot. Gretel had to think fast, luckily she thought of a great plan to save her brother. When the fire was hot, she called the witch and asked her to check.
When the witch was doing that, she cunningly pushed the witch into the fire.
Gretel bravely saved Hansel and both the siblings lived happily ever after.
